Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Alec Marianek began his dance training at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. After moving to Dallas, Texas, he graduated cum laude from Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts with a BFA in Dance Performance and a minor in Arts Entrepreneurship.

He has worked with Robert Battle, Adam Hougland, Stephanie Martinez, Larry Keigwin, Mike Esperanza, Pascal Rioult (Meadows at the Winspear), Tamisha Guy (Houston Contemporary), Brian Brooks (American Dance Festival), and Joshua L. Peugh (Dark Circles Contemporary Dance). He has also performed repertory originally choreographed by Martha Graham and Paul Taylor.

Marianek began developing his own choreographic voice in college, where his work was selected for the American College Dance Association. His senior capstone was later invited to be part of the inaugural Dallas Indie Dance Fest by Agora Artists. Following graduation, he served as a rehearsal and choreographer’s assistant to Parisa Khobdeh and was named an Emerging Choreographer for NewDANCEFest in Detroit, Michigan.

Marianek’s choreographic work draws inspiration from the breadth of his performance experience, synthesizing diverse movement influences into a personal aesthetic. His choreography often explores tension and release, harnessing percussive energy, rhythm, and the expressive use of space. His work has been created for Houston Contemporary 2 and Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy. He currently serves as Resident Guest Faculty at Studio of MoveMINT in Fort Worth, Texas, and has previously toured nationally as a faculty assistant with Revel Dance Convention.
