Alec Marianek is a freelance dancer and choreographer currently based in Dallas, TX.

He is a cum laude graduate of Southern Methodist University, where he earned a BFA in Dance Performance and a minor in Arts Entrepreneurship.

Alec grew up practicing karate, earning a national bronze medal before discovering his passion for dance. He began his formal training at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and Britney Boyd Dance Company in Jacksonville, Florida.

Alec went on to train with notable institutions including the American Dance Festival, Dark Circles Contemporary Dance, The Martha Graham School, Houston Contemporary, and B12 Research or Die in Berlin, Germany.

At SMU, he performed new and restaged works by acclaimed choreographers including Robert Battle, Paul Taylor, Martha Graham, Adam Hougland, Larry Keigwin, Pascal Rioult, Stephanie Martinez, and Michelle N. Gibson, among others. Beyond SMU, he has also performed works by Brian Brooks, Joshua Peugh, and Tamisha Guy.

In addition to performing, Alec is an emerging choreographer whose work has been presented at Dallas Indie Dance Fest (Agora Artists), the American College Dance Association, NewDANCEFest (Eisenhower Dance Detroit), and Houston Contemporary 2.
